Two more Trier pics

I thought this was awesome - it is Constantine's throne room. The place from where he ruled the Western Roman Empire after it split from the east.

This was one of the most fascinating days of my life. The medeival buildings were fine, but the Roman stuff was amazing. We ate in a resturant that was once "St." Helena's (mother of Constantine) kitchen.

I decided to add a pic of an actual, original Roman relief from the wall. I am not sure what order they will show up in, but you will know which is which :-).

Germany 05 - Trier

Trier is Europe's oldest city as became a Roman city in 14 BC. It was the Germanic capital of the Roman empire, and Constantine spent part of his time reigning there. Will try to get more up late, but here is an ampitheater built in the early second century and Porto Nigra, the main gate of the Roman city wall built about a hundred years later.

Eoin's birthday schnitzel dinner

Eoin turned 10 in Germany. Here is his schnitzel dinner. He ate the WHOLE thing!!

Germany 04 - Manderscheid

Manderschied has two castles, the oberberg (upper castle) and neiderberg (lower castle). The boys and I borrowed Danny's car and drove there on our own! A lot of fog and mist, but maybe you can make out the castles,

Hello world!

We have a couple of blogs about, but got the idea for a family blog from Matt and I decided to adopt the idea for our branch of the family.
Here is a recent family pic while Beth was home in August.
